La Patrona, located at 575 S Carrollton Ave in New Orleans, is quickly becoming a cherished destination for authentic Mexican cuisine. Customers rave about the exceptional hospitality and warm, inviting atmosphere that feels just like home. Notably, the margaritas paired with nachos have drawn particular praise, making them an enticing must-try. Reviewers highlight the tender and flavorful steak fajitas and the delightful chicken flautas, especially when complemented by homemade guacamole.
Many diners also commend the restaurant’s cozy outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying delicious Hispanic dishes while people-watching. While some dishes, like the tacos, received mixed feedback, the enchiladas and salsa stood out for their rich flavors—especially the roasted salsa, which brings a unique touch. Although certain spicy elements might be toned down to cater to broader preferences, the quality of the handmade tortillas and other offerings keeps guests coming back.
The overall consensus is clear: La Patrona delivers affordability without compromising on flavor or freshness. With its homey vibe and outstanding service, this restaurant is carving a niche as a go-to spot for lovers of authentic Mexican fare in New Orleans.

Very cute restaurant with great food and amazing service. I ordered steak fajitas, and the steak was very tender juicy with good flavor. I also ordered chicken flautas, which were delicious as well, especially with the guacamole. Definitely will return to try more items.

Amazing Hispanic food. Finally the first Hispanic food place that is delicious and amazing to go to. This will be my go to spot for all hispanic food for as long as i am in New Orleans. There's a very lovely spot to sit at outside and people watch; my girlfriend and I loved it. It's right next to a large oyster bar as well so one can go grab a drink from there later. - The restaurant was clean but empty and so I sort of wish more people would go here to support the place. The owners are very nice and get all the food out rapidly. I want to keep it a secret but this place deserves a lot more business. - Google lists some deals that weren't present. It was 5 tacos for 11.50. It was about 50 bucks for 18 tacos.

Horchata here is bomb af. The tacos were admittedly pretty mid, the but enchiladas and rice they have are super good. Salsa that they serve with chips tastes like a roasted salsa molcajeteada, not spicy, super garlicky and super flavorful. Honestly impressive but I would have preferred it spicer. Their mexican rice reads more like the type of rice made for red beans and rice with cumin and consome which surprisingly works. It's textured firm like an Indian basmati but fully cooked and flavored perfectly. Surprisingly good even if it didn't seem fried and then cooked in tomato sauce with broth like a traditional Mexican rice. I would highly recommend getting enchiladas suizas and horchata if you want a good authentic Mexican meal. The beans that it came with just needed a little salt but apart from that they were inoffensive. Oh also this place is not expensive at all. Way better than what you can find for 1.5x the price in other parts of the city. Tortillas seem handmade and were good quality, but the pastor as a meat option was meh which is usually my go to. Nothing here tasted spicy, like at all. Im sure that caters to some people, but for how good the things I said I liked are, you honestly don't need spice.

This was by far the best Mexican food I've eaten in New Orleans. The service was incredible, the food was even better. Homemade everything, from the Margaritas to the Tortillas. It was delicious. Not sure it was Wheelchair accessible, but there is no doubt in my mind they would come out and carry your grandma inside! 5 stars! Will be back again! Super reasonable on price, but the quality is the real star. Can't wait to be hungry again.... update.. left with a Christmas Margarita today! Ever so appreciated and again. Still can't wait to be hungry again

Outstanding tacos, and that's coming from a taco snob. The tortillas are ** homemade *" and some of the most tender and flavorful I've had -- you can really taste the corn and they aren't dry at all. And the carnitas are perfection. Most places that serve carnitas basically give you straight pulled pork. But here they take the time to actually crisp them so you get nice caramelized crunchy texture in there too.-- I took a photo of that so you can see for your. Owner is super nice, prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend and only wish I had started going sooner!

Update 2025: The more I come here the more I love this place. I recommend any of the street tacos and the Texas Smoked Taco, but the Enchiladas Suizas are one of the best I've had anywhere (including Mexico!). Mind-blowing! Everything was so fresh. The service was incredibly fast, and the attention to detail in the food was exceptional. The prices are competitive, although not the lowest for good reason. The tortillas were freshly hand made, the meats were delicious, and every ingredient radiated freshness. The place is neat and has nice little decorations, although a little comic. The freshest taco I have had in New Orleans came from la Patrona. Great place! Update: The best Mexican food is served here. Senor Edwin's dedication to keeping a customer happy and serving the best food is outstanding. I can't recommend this place enough.

What a find! I had lunch on Tuesday here and was blown away. They have a 2 taco Tuesday special and 4 margaritas! Everything was fantastic that we tried, so fresh and made from scratch. The margaritas were not those sugary pre mixes they were so wonderful and served in clay cups. The best part, the tacos were served with guac and pico!! No additional cost!! The man serving us and running everything was the owner and I believe he said his wife worked with him there too. He was very kind and grateful for our business. Overall, I was blown away and La Patrona has a new regular!
